KENYA:STUDENTS KILLED IN A BUS ACCIDENT

On Kisii-Kilgoris road several students died on Friday when the new bus they were travelling in overturned on the road.

Police said the students of St Mary's Nyamagwa Girls Secondary School went on a road trip for celebration the newly purchased bus the day before.

The 71-seater vehicle tip over in Rioma area while they headed back to school.

Ondari Otieno, CEO of Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital Hospital, said three students died while five others were in critical condition.

The five others were to undergo surgery, he said, and added that a total of 68 students were taken to the hospital with injuries.

 Witness reported that some of the students had deep cuts on their heads.

"The driver of the bus also seemed to be new. It is said he had driven the bus from Nairobi on Thursday night," the witness added.

The accident comes barely two days after a pupil died and about seven were injured after their school bus overturned on Langata road in Nairobi,Kenya.

The victims were among 64 passengers aboard a bus belonging to Meru's Victorian Academy - the vehicle was a 51-seater.

The students were headed to Bomas of Kenya for the 90th edition of the Kenya National Music Festival.
